Secret Word Garden is a fanciful brain game which engages your spatial reasoning, crosswording skill, and trivia knowledge as you revive an enchanted word-garden to discover its secret name.
Water the garden into life and enlist its restored flora and fauna to help you reveal the garden’s words. The words are clues which are all related in some way to the garden’s secret name.
You may attempt to guess the secret at any time, but you are limited to three guesses. Water is also limited, but time is on your side. Play at your own leisurely pace and enjoy the Secret Word Garden.
The object of the game is to deduce the garden’s secret name. Its name might be an ordinary word, or the name of a well-known person, place, or thing.
Your clues are the garden’s words, which are spelled in rows and columns on the garden’s enchanted flowers. They all relate in some way to the garden’s secret name.
To reveal the garden’s words, you must first revive the garden.
Water the dirt plots with your water pail to revive the garden. You have a limited amount of water, so think before you pour.
Click on a dirt plot to water it. Your count of remaining pours is displayed at the top of the screen.
Watering a plot may reveal a flower, a bee, a lettered beehive, or other helpful critter or item. You will need flowers, bees and beehives to reveal the garden’s words.
The garden’s soil is seeded with flowers in secret locations. When you water a seeded plot, the flower grows. Flowers will eventually display the letters that form the word-clues, but you’ll need friendly bees and their hives to reveal the letters.
Beehives are the source of letters that appear on the flowers. Place a bee on a hive to activate the displayed letter. The bees will copy activated letters to the grown flowers where they belong. That’s right, these are spelling bees!
To place a bee, click on the bee then click where you want to place it.
Unrevealed flowers that require a letter that was previously activated will receive the letter when the flowers are grown.
Place a queen bee on a hive to make all the flowers with that hives letter grow and receive the letter!.
There are not enough beehives in the garden to offer the whole alphabet at once. However, you can change the letters on the hives to random new letters with the help of a butterfly or a ladybug.
Place a butterfly on a beehive to change that hive’s letter. It will also change the letters on all other hives that share that hive’s color.
Place a ladybug on a hive to change the letters on all hives!
A hive starts out gold or violet. After it is used by a bee, it turns either green if there are grown flowers displaying the letter, or red if no grown flowers are displaying the letter.
The violet hive is a "queen hive". Placing a bee on a queen hive causes all flowers that will bear its letter to grow, if not already grown, and receive its letter.
Sometimes a watered plot reveals a flagstone with a number on it. This is a hint about nearby flowers.
The number on a flagstone indicates how many of the surrounding eight plots were planted with enchanted flower seeds. Use the numbers to help you deduce the locations of unrevealed flower plots.
These critters help you reveal the garden in unique ways.
Touch the inchworm to make it move across the garden in the direction it is facing, revealing the plots it crosses. It grows ungrown flowers, colors uncolored flowers, and letters colored flowers. Inchworms found outside the garden can be picked up and placed.
The roly poly bug reveals plots just like the inchworm does, but you have to pickup and place it to get it started. It will roll in a random directon from where you place it (up, down, left, or right).
Pickup and place these items in a dirt area for help watering the garden.
The sprinkler waters some of the plots in the 3x3 grid where you place it.
The water hose waters all of the plots in the 3x3 grid where you place it.
When you think you have deduced the secret of the garden, click the Solve Button at the top of the screen to make your guess. You get three guesses to solve the puzzle.
Use the typewriter that pops up to type in your answer.
Submit your answer.
Resume play without guessing.
Abandon the puzzle.
